The Tripleshot CrossFondo in Victoria, BC is a mass participation off-road cycling event for all ages and all abilities that winds through trails (sort of like mountain biking) vs roads (sort of like a GranFondo).
The back country trails take you through Bear Mountain Bike Park, the Highlands, Hartland Mountain Bike Park, Camosun College, Francis King Regional Park and Thetis Lake Regional Park, and some private property that owners are opening up for this one event. Ride a course of approximately 40 km (with 10 and 20 km options), cruise some flowy pine-needle sections, pedal over roots and rocks, churn through chunky peanut butter mud and puddles, power up and over hills and hug some hairpin turns. Oh, and there maybe a few hike-a-bike sections just to keep it legit.
Features of this inaugural event include wave starts, chip timing, yummy feed zones with home-baked goodies and refreshments, and a few other surprises. This participation fundraiser for the Victoria-based Tripleshot Cycling Club Youth Team will support quality year-round coaching for the 30+ youth team, age 11-17 who train and compete in cross, road, track and mountain bike at the local, provincial, national and international level. A secondary beneficiary is the Southern Vancouver Island Nature Trails Society, as we appreciate and wish to promote its mission of connecting trail systems by both the nature of the event – connecting trails- and supporting the society with a donation.
Start/Finish for 2017 is TBC, start time is 9:00 a.m.; registration open by 8 a.m. This event is supported by the Tripleshot Cycling Club .
